Priya Purohit (Reserve List, CSE 2023)

The Journey of Resilience: A Four-Attempt Marathon

Priya’s story is about transitioning from isolated self-study to a structured, mentored preparation, highlighting the importance of a strong support system.

1
The Initial Struggle
Lacking family background in UPSC, Priya began with self-study, relying on scattered online resources. She soon realized this unstructured approach was inefficient and lacked direction.
2
The Turning Point
After failing to clear Mains in her first attempt, she sought expert guidance. She chose Educrat IAS Academy in Kolkata for its experienced mentors and personalized approach, deciding against a move to Delhi.
3
Mentorship and Emotional Support
The academy provided a personalized plan to address her weaknesses and, crucially, offered the emotional encouragement she needed during low moments, which she deeply values.
4
The CSAT Wake-up Call
Initially neglecting the CSAT paper, Priya was guided by her mentors to dedicate 5-6 months to it. This proved vital in clearing the notoriously difficult CSAT paper of 2023.
