1 . GI-tagged Rewa Sundarja Mangoes 

Syllabus Mapping: GS-3: Agriculture & GI Tags

  • APEDAfacilitated the first commercial export of GI-tagged Rewa Sundarja Mangoes from Madhya Pradesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Rewa Sundarja Mangois a premium indigenous mango variety native to the Govindgarh region of Rewa district which was awarded the (GI) Tag in 2023
  • Known for its exceptional sweetness, rich aroma, fibreless pulp and distinctive flavour
  • Popularly known as the “Pride of Vindhya”and has a cultivation history of over 140 years.  
  • APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority)functions under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.  
  • APEDA was established under the APEDA Act, 1985to promote exports of agricultural and processed food products.  
  • GI Tagis governed under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, which came into force in 2003.  
  • GI Registryis located at Chennai and is administered by the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry.  
  • registered GI is valid for 10 yearsand is renewable indefinitely for successive periods of 10 years. 
  • Unlike a patent, a GI cannot be transferred, assigned or licensed independentlyof the geographical origin. 

 

  1. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj

Syllabus Mapping: GS-1: Modern History & Social Reform

  • Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj (1874–1922)was the ruler of the princely state of Kolhapur (present-day Maharashtra) during the British period.  
  • Popularly known as the “Father/Pioneer of Reservation in India”for introducing 50% reservation in government jobs in Kolhapur in 1902 for socially and educationally backward communities.  
  • Strongly opposed untouchabilityand promoted the education, dignity and socio-economic upliftment of Dalits and backward classes.  
  • Made primary education free and compulsoryin Kolhapur.  
  • Established hostels for students of all castes and communities, enabling access to education for disadvantaged groups. 
  • Worked for women’s empowermentby promoting women’s education, supporting widow remarriage, and taking measures against child marriage.  
  • Encouraged non-Brahmin representationin administration and public services.  
  • Honoured with the title “Rajarshi” (King among Sages)by the Kurmi Kshatriya Sabha, Kanpur, for his contribution to the upliftment of the downtrodden.  
  • Was a close supporter of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule’s Satyashodhak movementand later inspired the social justice movement led by  B.R. Ambedkar.  

 

  1. Nadaprabhu Sri Kempegowda

  • Nadaprabhu Kempegowda I (c.1513–1569)was a 16th-century chieftain (Nadaprabhu) under the Vijayanagara Empire.  
  • Widely regarded as the Founder of Bengaluru (Bangalore); laid the foundation of the city in 1537
  • Belonged to the Vokkaliga communityof southern Karnataka.  
  • Ruled from Yelahankaand developed Bengaluru as a planned urban centre.  
  • Constructed four watch towersmarking the traditional boundaries of Bengaluru; these remain important historical landmarks.  
  • Developed an extensive network of lakes, tanks and irrigation systems(around 1,000 lakes as per traditional accounts) for drinking water and agriculture.  
  • Promoted planned markets (Pete system), roads, temples and public spaces, making Bengaluru a major commercial hub. 
  • Known for his emphasis on water conservation, sustainable urban planning and environmental management
  • The 108-foot bronze Statue of Prosperityof Kempegowda was unveiled near Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, in 2022.  
  • Kempegowda International Airportis located at Devanahalli, north of Bengaluru. 

 

  1. Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram

  • Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakramwas launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW)
  • It integrates Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC)and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) to provide a continuum of care from birth to 36 months.   
  • Introduces, for the first time, a risk-stratified approachto identify and manage at-risk newborns and children.  
  • At-risk newbornswill receive up to 9 home visits during the first 42 days of life.  
  • At-risk childrenwill receive up to 8 home visits up to 36 months of age.  
  • Home visits will be conducted jointly by ASHAs, ANMs, Community Health Officers (CHOs)and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs).  
  • Introduces Well-Baby Sessionsat every Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND).  
  • Monthly Shishu Shivirswill be organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) for growth monitoring and early intervention.  
  • Covers maternal mental health screeningresponsive caregivingearly childhood learningnutrition counselling, and child-wise digital tracking
  • The programme will leverage ABHA IDsand digital health platforms for seamless beneficiary tracking. 

 

  1. Aarogya Setu 2.0

 Syllabus Mapping: GS-2: Health & Digital Governance

  • Union Health Minister will launch Aarogya Setu 2.0and other digital health initiatives on 29 June 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.  
  • Developed under the aegis of the National Health Authority (NHA)and National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS).  
  • Aarogya Setu 2.0 will function as a comprehensive Personal Health Record (PHR) applicationfor citizens. 
  • It will enable:
    • Creation and management of ABHA 
    • Access and sharing of digital health records 
    • Consent-basedhealth information exchange  
    • AI-poweredhealth insights  
    • Smart health reports
  • National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX): A digital public infrastructure developed by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).  
    • Serves as a unified gatewayto streamline and standardize health insurance claims.  
    • Enables hospitals, insurers and TPAsto communicate seamlessly on a single platform
  • Ayushman SarathiWill provide PM-JAY services through a WhatsApp chatbot.
  • E-Sushruta Clinic: Will support digital clinic workflows and Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
