    Paradip Port: Paradip Port is a natural, deep-water port on the East coast of India in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha.It is situated at confluence of the Mahanadi river and the Bay of Bengal.

    It is situated to the south of Kolkata and to the north of Visakhapatnam.

    The port is administered by the Paradip Port Trust (PPT), an autonomous corporation wholly owned by the Government of India.

     

    Black Hole: A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light cannot get out.The gravity is so strong because matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. This can happen when a star is dying.Because no light can get out, people can’t see black holes. They are invisible. Space telescopes with special tools can help find black holes.

    A black hole cannot be seen because strong gravity pulls all of the light into the middle of the black hole.

     

    Election Laws( Amendment) Act 2021: It provides for amendment of section 23 of the Representation of People’s Act, 1950, enabling the linking of electoral roll data with the Aadhaar ecosystem.According to the bill, four qualifying dates will be declared for updating the voting rolls to include those who have turned 18 — the first day of the months of January, April, July and October.

    The language for registration of ‘wives of service voters’ will now be replaced by ‘spouse’. This will make the laws more “gender-neutral”.

     

    Vijay Diwas: Vijay Diwas is observed on 16th December every year to mark India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war. The Government of India decided on 3rd December 1971, that India would go for war with Pakistan to save Bengali Muslims and Hindus. This war was fought between India and Pakistan for 13 days.

    On 16th December 1971, the chief of the Pakistani forces with 93,000 soldiers had surrendered unconditionally to the allied forces consisting of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini in Dhaka.Bangladesh was born on this day. Hence, Bangladesh celebrates its independence day (Bijoy Dibos) on 16th December every year.

     

    DISHA Scheme: Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice” (DISHA), is the Government of India Scheme launched for a period of five years 2021-2026 to advance the cause of access to justice. It aims to design and consolidate various initiatives to provide citizen- centric delivery of legal services. 

    Under DISHA at present reaching the Unreached, Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) and Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness programmes are being implemented at a pan India level. Moreover, in order to ensure its widened reach, dedicated Information Education and Communication (IEC) including (Technology) component has been embedded in DISHA.
