Introduction of Indian Communication Finance Services

Indian Communication Finance Services (ICFS), which was founded in 1973, was formerly known as the Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS). This service’s primary function is to offer accounting and financial support to the Indian Post and Telecommunication 
Department.

Department of Posts and Department of Telecommunications which were the sole provider of the communications needs of the country.  This services contributes to the largest share of Non-Tax Revenue collection/assessment for Government of India.

Training

Candidates appointed to the service through the Civil Service Examination shall be on probation for a period of two years and shall attend such Training and undergo such examination/tests as may be prescribed from time to time in various training centers as decided by the Cadre Controlling Authority. The indicative training for probationers is as follows:-

Posting on Completion of Probation

The Department of Posts and the Department of Telecommunications are served by ICFS Gr. “A” officers. The officer may be posted to vacant Junior Time Scale positions that are available at that time in various offices within these Departments after successfully completing the probationary period. The majority of these offices are located throughout India’s UTs and State Capitals, with the headquarters in Delhi.

Can an ICFS Officer serve for any state government or abroad?

In addition to the ICFS, Grade “A” officers may be appointed on deputation to the Central Government, State Governments, Central Staffing Scheme, Autonomous Organizations/Subordinate Organizations, PSUs, and UN Organizations/International Organizations like the World Bank and Asian Development Bank in a variety of positions.
