- Directorate General Of Civil Aviation: It is the regulatory body in the field of civil aviation primarily dealing with safety issues. It is an attached office of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Digital Services Act officially came into effect on August 25 2023 but was applied to very large platforms (having more than 45 million active monthly users in the European Union) at that time. The European Commission has since engaged itself in investigating and probing the compliance of these digital giants. Small companies defined as having less than 50 staff and a turnover of less than 10 million euros are relatively spared broader scrutiny by the law. The aim is to regulate the online activities of tech players with a special focus on tech giants like Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc. and to create a safer and more transparent internet for everyone.
