Saima Khan

Your room is filled with books, like a cozy study space. You’ve got posters on the wall that remind you why you’re studying so hard, and inspirational sayings that keep you going. Every day you spend a lot of time studying, focusing really hard for months or even years. This is what it’s like to be a UPSC aspirant

Saima Khan didn’t get to the UPSC interview room in a straight shot in 2023. It took her four years! It was an up and down journey, with failures, successes, and never giving up. Even though it was hard, she says it was totally worth it. Seeing the realities of the world around her sparked a desire to make things better, even if it meant small changes at first.

Saima Khan

Graduated in 2017 from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata with a degree in Sociology Honours, she was new to the whole UPSC game. She studied whatever advice she could find online, jumping from YouTube videos to random blog posts. No wonder her first try in 2018 wasn’t successful! She owned up to her mistakes and realized her studying needed some serious direction.

After failing her first attempt, part of her thought about moving to Delhi to prepare, but the hassle put her off. That’s when Saima decided to find a real study guide. She found the Educrat IAS Academy, which helped her understand UPSC.

Educrat proved to be a turning point in Saima’s UPSC journey. The competitive atmosphere kept her motivated, while regular tests helped her gauge her progress. It also provided invaluable guidance by helping her set goals, develop effective learning strategies, and create a comprehensive study plan. With this multifaceted support system in place, Saima felt significantly more prepared to tackle the UPSC exam once again. Finally, she cleared the prelims for the first time in her third attempt, but not the mains.

Feeling disheartened and dejected, she found it extremely difficult to return to prelims. However, with the invaluable support from the Mentors at Educrat IAS Academy, she got motivated to resume her studies. Her mentors consistently believed in her, even during times when she doubted herself.

Two things kept her going even when things got tough. First, she really wanted to crack CSE and wouldn’t let setbacks stop her. Second, she figured failing was probably part of the process, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t eventually succeed. This idea kept her pushing forward.

For her next try, with the help of Educrat IAS Academy she focused on improving her answer writing skills by taking a lot of mock tests at the institute. This really helped! Weekly targets were set, and over the course of three months, Saima appeared for 28 mock tests. Additionally, discussions were focused on topics related to essay writing and ethics.

Finally, after passing the mains exam, Saima practiced for the interview round at Educrat and kept pushing forward. The mentors guided her in completing the Detailed Application Form (DAF), conducting stress interviews, advising on service selection and discussing hobbies and preferences. Her determination paid off, and she accomplished her dream!

Educrat’s focus on small details and basic knowledge boosted Saima’s confidence, which ultimately led her to the interview hall at Dholpur House.
