    • Bhoota Kola:  It is an annual ritual performance where local spirits or deities are worshipped.
    • This performer is both feared and respected in the community. It is believed to give answers to people’s problems, on behalf of god.
    • ‘Bhootas’ who are worshipped in the Tulu-speaking belt of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts.
    • It is usually performed in small local communities and rural areas.
    • It has influenced Yakshagana folk theatre. Drums and music are accompanied in dancing and pooja rituals.

     

    • Thomas M Devasia committee: set up by IRDAI to develop and suggest constitution and operation of women centric distribution channels to focus on reaching untapped/rural areas (Bima Vahak) and recommend regulatory framework.
    • It will recommend on how to bring synergies in working of Bima Vahak, Bima Vistaar and the digital platform Bima Sugam.

     

    • BIMA Sugam: Bima Sugam will be a one-stop platform for all insurance needs, right from buying the policy to claim settlement and much more.
    • Under Bima Sugam, there will be E-BIMA or E-IA account for policyholders in a Demat format.
    • It shall allow the following insurance services: Buy insurance policy, Claim Settlement, Agent Portability, Policy Portability.
    • It will be accessible by insurers, agents, intermediaries and customers. Bima Sugam shall have linkages with UIDAI, NSDL, CDSL, etc.

     

    • Brain Fog: refers to as a “Cognitive Dysfunction”, is a feeling like something being shrouded by a thick fog
    • Brain fog refers to problems with closely linked tasks such as concentration, information processing, memory, thinking and making sense of language.
    • It can affect people of any age and it doesn’t usually worsen over time, and may not last forever.

     

    • Post-Disaster Needs Assessment: PDNA is a joint product of the European Union, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Group (UNDP).
    • It is a mechanism for joint assessment and recovery planning following a disaster.
    • Through this, the parties involved seek to assess the impact of a disaster and define a strategy for recovery.
    • It pulls together information on the socio-economic aspects of damages and highlights recovery priorities from a human recovery perspective.
    • The PDNA is envisaged as a country owned and led process, supported by international agencies and other stakeholders. PDNA was first adopted in India during the Kerala floods of 2018.
