    Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Services

    The Ministry of Defense’s Inter-Services Organizations (ISOs) such as DRDO, DGQA, DGAQA, DGNCC, and others, as well as the Tri-services headquarters of the Indian Armed Forces, are supported administratively by civilian officers and staff through the Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Services (AFHQCS), a Group A Central Civil Services with induction at Group B grade (MOD).

     

    It employs civilian officers in management positions for the integrated defence services, including the army, navy, and air force. They are located at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters as well as in numerous inter-service groups that fall under the Ministry of Defence.

     

    These officers’ main responsibility is to guarantee efficient administration of the integrated services at different designated headquarters. In any of the three defence services, they are not given any responsibilities in technical positions or military combat activities. They are actively involved in responsibilities including clerical support work, secretarial level work, housekeeping, and other related activities

    Defense headquarters Training Institute offers a foundation course to newly inducted candidates. In-house specialised modules are developed for their learning while they receive detailed training on the service. In order to better understand their responsibilities inside the service headquarters and other relevant inter-service entities, they are also offered on-the-job training.

     

    DHTI is the Central Training Institute (CTI) for services provided by Armed Forces HQs (AFHQ). It was established in 2003 to conduct training and development activities for the civilian staff of Armed Forces Headquarters and Inter-Service Organizations.

    Designations in the service

    An officer trainee starts his/her career as Section Officer. They are placed in offices that oversee the well-being and workplace culture of specific divisions’ employees. To carry out their responsibilities as section officers, they are delegated to various units. Staff headquarters and the integrated headquarters of the ministry of defence are two examples of the common units where they are posted. At the integrated staff headquarters of the defence services, they can also receive higher level posts.

    They also play a very important position in the inter-service organisations that are under the ministry of defence. Service officers are required by the secretariat of the ministry of defence to carry out orders issued by the Indian government in the appropriate sections.
